Vilnius

Vilnius is the capital city of Lithuania. It is 530 km on bird’s eye from Tallinn to Vilnius and 599-656km when you are driving from Tallinn to Vilnius, depends on which way to drive there. Vilnius area is 402 km², which is 2,5 times larger than Tallinn. The population of Vilnius is a bit over half a million.

Vilnius on Leedu pealinn ning asub Tallinnast linnulennult 530 km kaugusel. Mööda maanteed reisides 599-656km kaugusel, oleneb kumba kaudu sõita. Vilniuse pindala on 402 km², mis on Tallinnast 2,5 korda suurem. Inimesi elab Vilniuses veidi üle poole miljoni. IMG_5618

There is a very good bus connection between Tallinn and Vilnius. It is also possible to travel there by plane. The bus ride takes about 8-9 hours and the plane takes with 1.5 hours. Vilnius is one of the Baltic countries, but I always feel there like I am traveling to a country located somewhere farther than the short distance from Estonia.

The old town of Vilnius is part of the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1994.

Vilniuse vanalinn on kuulub UNESCO maailmapärandi nimistusse aastast 1994.IMG_5237IMG_5242IMG_5285IMG_5623IMG_5617IMG_5624IMG_5277IMG_5278IMG_5625IMG_5594

The three crosses hill gives a magnificent panoramic view of Vilnius, in daylight as well in the dark. The three crosses have been on top of the hill since 1636. This monument is dedicated to monks. It also symbolizes the significance of Christianity for Lithuania.

Kolme risti mäe otsast avaneb suurepärane panoraamvaade linnale nii päevavalgusega kui ka pimedas. Kolm risti on mäel olnud aastast 1636. Monument on pühendatud munkadele. Samuti sümboliseerib see kristluse tähtsust Leedule.IMG_1761IMG_4980IMG_4982IMG_6777.JPGIMG_5595IMG_5596IMG_5597Another way to get to know the city is to make a street art tour.

Teistsugune viis linnaga tutvumiseks on otsida erinevaid tänavakunstiga kaetud seinu. IMG_5170IMG_5606IMG_5601IMG_5605IMG_5607IMG_5602IMG_5600IMG_5599IMG_5197IMG_5598IMG_5520

The city is named after Vilnia river what runs through Vilnius. Vilnius is very green city with several parks.

Linnale on nime andnud läbi linna voolav Vilnia jõgi. Vilnius on väga roheline linn mitmete parkidega.IMG_5169IMG_5174IMG_5184

Chaika with its interesting interior and quite cheap prices.
